Headphones

Headphones

Headphones are an ideal way of blocking out unwanted noise and concentrating on the sounds coming out of the headphones. Background noise and distractions in the classroom significantly reduce a student’s ability to concentrate and therefore affects learning and productivity. Using headphones to listen to course material, teachers notes or an audio textbook helps students to improve focus and take a break from all the noise and chatter around them.

Bluetooth Headphones

Headphones come in a number of sizes and types. Bluetooth headphones are ideal for students who would prefer not to stay in one place while wearing them. For example, if they are paired to a device that cannot be moved, Bluetooth headphones mean the user doesn’t have to stay with the device. The sound quality of Bluetooth headphones is also often very good making listening to music, audiobooks and lessons more enjoyable.

3.5mm Headphones

3.5mm headphones are connected to a device using the typical headphone jack connection. Another name for this headphone jack size is the miniature size or mini for short. Since most modern smartphones did away with the headphone jack, these headphones are most suited to devices used in the music studios of schools and colleges or to be used in music technology lessons and other lessons that use stereo and professional music equipment.

USB Headphones

USB headphones are becoming more common with some modern smartphones requiring either a USB A or USB C headphone connection. USB headphones often combine a microphone and a headphone which is connected via a USB connector to a computer or other device. These headphones are also useful for teachers and school/college staff as they are commonly used for telephony via a computer. The computer can be turned into a fully fledged telephone, with many useful functions. Subjects such as computer game design are a common use for this style of headphone.

Accessories

If a school or college has many devices requiring different headphone types, it is sometimes easier and more budget friendly to purchase a headphone type to suit the majority of devices and purchase a selection of headphone and headset adaptors. Adaptors provide greater flexibility and students can use their preferred type of headphones across many devices.

Headphone storage is just as important as the headphones themselves. Storing headphones extends the longevity of the equipment and keeps them safe and tidy.
